High Jump Slow Writing
This is my slow writing of athletics day.
High Jump
The Bar was as solid as a slab of concrete.
My clumsy body slammed into the stripy pole.
My stomach screamed when I squashed the big black bar.
Could I have jumped that high? I doubted it!!
Again I jumped as high as I could, but gravity got the better of me.
Whamm!!!
By Louis
I found the 4th line the best.
I found the alliteration the hard part.
Blog Bookmark!
Here is my blog bookmark...
We have been making bookmarks for our blogs. I enjoyed making my QR code.
I would maybe add a bit more colour to my bookmark because so far it's only really white.
Yes, please leave a comment! 👍

Blog Fridge Bookmark
We have been learning how to get our family and friends to see our blogs. We decided to use bookmarks.
Something I learnt was the QR (Quick Response) code. When you scan it with your mobile phone or device.
Next time I would try to find out why the sound was not working.

Here, we were learning about how to manage, survive and handle an earthquake. There are three simple steps. Drop, Cover, Hold.
Next time I would like to change the angle of the camera angle to see us better. If you want to see this video, here's the link: http://awapuniroom3.blogspot.com/

Vicious Volcanoes
Vicious Volcanoes
Did you know that volcanoes are the Earth’s way to cool off? They act as vents through the planet’s crust and release an inside liquid metal named magma. Once the magma reaches the surface it is declared lava. Many people see the volcanoes as threats but they are completely natural.
What causes an eruption?
There are many different ways to cause volcanic activity.
Usually, they are caused by earthquakes nearby. Sometimes,
there are warning signs that a volcano is about to erupt. If not,
they could be very dangerous. The common warning signs are
either steam blowing out of the top or a low rumbling sound of
magma building up inside.

Parts Of A Volcano
There are also many parts of a volcano. Inside, there is a tube
that carries magma up to the crater called the main vent. Little
vents stream of the main vent. The crater is the bowl at the top
of the mountain and the main lava supplier. Down at the bottom
of the lava tube there is an open area called the magma chamber.

Maori Connection
Millions of years ago, the New Zealand’s Mt. Ruapehu exploded
while creating a lake into Lake Taupo. One of the worst disasters
happened in Tangiwai, or Weeping Waters. When lava mixes with
a mud or water, it turns into a thick mud called lahar. This caused
the train bridge to be swept away and a christmas locomotive
bailed over the edge.

How to Survive It
Usually, there are warning signals that a volcano is about to erupt.
Use this as an advantage and leave the area immediately. If your
city government tells you to leave, then do so.

Trivia
Lava can reach 1,250℃ (2288℉) and 64 kph (40mph)
Shield volcanoes are another type of volcano which looks like a
shield and just spews out lava instead of an explosion.

My Time At School
If I were to choose one icon and one word for my time at school, this is what it would look like. As you can see, I have chosen the silver fern of New Zealand which means loyalty. I know I was and am loyal to my classmates and teachers. Next time I would practiced my fern more for a better picture.

Is School Zero Waste??
Is Awapuni School Zero Waste?
I disagree and think that Awapuni school is not zero waste.
There is no way that school is zero waste, at all.
Firstly, no-one said anything about no plastic allowed in
school and even the principal Mr. Langford might even
bring some, like the other teachers.
Secondly, no-one in the school (apart from the teachers),
really knows about the carbon footprint, the pollution in our
oceans and the greenhouse gases and its power to destroy
glaciers and the antarctic icecap.
glaciers and the antarctic icecap.
After all, the teachers tell people off for leaving their mandarin
peels on the ground, when they are actually biodegradable.
That means when something can rott into the ground/soil and
can work as compost.

In fact, Awapuni school is maybe a small bit less waste because
they recycle their milk cartons but that only doesn’t make them
zero waste. In short there are many ways Awapuni school can
do better to turn into a zero waste school.

Matariki Haiku.
Matariki
Waiti
Glimmering bright spark
Star of the lakes and rivers
Drained out to Waitā
Waitā
Salty rocks ashore
Seventy percent of earth
But a mile away
Waipuna-ā-rangi
Draining poor Waitā
Great star of rain and down fall.
Feeding bright Waiti
